Voice not working?

Use voice in one tab at a time. Close or reload other stopwatch or voice-enabled pages first; an older page may keep listening in the background.

Check Microphone permission in your browser’s site settings and your device’s microphone settings. If you are using an in-app browser, open this same page directly in Chrome and try again. Recognition also depends on the browser’s speech service and connection. Manual timing always works.

Keep this tab visible while using voice. Your browser provider may process microphone audio. This tool does not save recordings or transcripts; the last phrase is shown only on this page.

A LITTLE LESS SCREEN TIME

Let your timer do the talking.

Hear progress without watching the clock. Choose an announcement interval and preview the voice before you start.

Speech output does not need microphone access. Keep this page open; a locked phone or sleeping browser may prevent alerts.

Free to use anywhere

Paste the link into a message, a lesson plan or a Notion page, or the embed code into any site that accepts HTML (WordPress, Google Sites, Canvas, Moodle). Embedded timers show a small VoiceStopwatch credit. Voice control inside an embed needs the host page to allow the microphone.

MAKE IT YOURS

A simple countdown, your way.

Type a duration in words or minutes:seconds, or choose a preset. Press Start. Pause keeps the remaining time; Reset prepares the same duration again.

Use a one-minute timer for transitions, five minutes for a quick break or 25 minutes for a study block. These presets belong to this single tool, so you can change duration without opening another page.

Questions about countdown timer

Can I run a silent countdown?

Yes. Turn off the completion sound, spoken updates and final countdown in the sound settings. The display still shows when time is up.

Can I use the countdown timer in fullscreen?

Yes. Select Fullscreen to enlarge the remaining time and essential controls. Press Escape or use the exit control to return to the page.

Can I set a custom duration?

Yes. Enter a duration such as 90 seconds, 5 minutes, 1 hour 30 minutes or 05:00, then select Set timer. Quick presets are also available.

Can the timer announce how much time is left?

Yes. Choose a spoken update interval or enable the final five-second countdown. Test voice and sound before an important timer, since browser and device settings can affect audio.

Can I pause and resume without losing time?

Yes. Pause keeps the remaining duration. Resume continues from that point, while Reset prepares the selected duration from the beginning.

Does the countdown timer work on mobile?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers without an app or account. Keep the page open and prevent device sleep when you need a reliable audible alert.

How do I time more than one activity?

Use Classroom Timer or Interval Timer for a sequence. Use Multiple Timers for independent countdowns that can start and finish separately.

What happens if I close the page?

Recent timer sessions and preferences are stored in this browser when storage is available. Recovery uses your device’s clock. Private browsing, cleared storage and device sleep can affect recovery. Keep the page open and test audio before relying on alerts.

Also try: voice activated timer — start the countdown hands-free; talking timer — remaining-time announcements; multiple timers — run several named countdowns at once.

Reset this session?

This clears the current countdown and returns the timer to its set duration.
