Voice not working?

Use voice in one tab at a time. Close or reload other stopwatch or voice-enabled pages first; an older page may keep listening in the background.

Check Microphone permission in your browser’s site settings and your device’s microphone settings. If you are using an in-app browser, open this same page directly in Chrome and try again. Recognition also depends on the browser’s speech service and connection. Manual timing always works.

Keep this tab visible while using voice. Your browser provider may process microphone audio. This tool does not save recordings or transcripts; the last phrase is shown only on this page.

A LITTLE LESS SCREEN TIME

Let your timer do the talking.

Hear progress without watching the clock. Choose an announcement interval and preview the voice before you start.

Speech output does not need microphone access. Keep this page open; a locked phone or sleeping browser may prevent alerts.

Share or embed this timer

Free to use anywhere

Paste the link into a message, a lesson plan or a Notion page, or the embed code into any site that accepts HTML (WordPress, Google Sites, Canvas, Moodle). Embedded timers show a small VoiceStopwatch credit. Voice control inside an embed needs the host page to allow the microphone.

MAKE IT YOURS

Set it. Say it. Start.

Enter a duration such as 5 minutes or 01:30, then start. For hands-free timing, enable voice and say “set a timer for five minutes” — the countdown starts straight away.

Use a voice command timer while cooking, stretching or rehearsing. Say Time for an update or Add one minute to extend a countdown without resetting it.

Questions about voice activated timer

Does voice control require permission?

Yes. Only Enable voice requests microphone access. Recognition depends on the browser and its speech service; buttons remain available.

Can the timer speak without listening?

Yes. Spoken updates use speech output and do not require a microphone. Choose Talking Timer if hearing the countdown is your main goal.

Can I start the timer without speaking?

Yes. Clap control starts or resumes the countdown with one clap and pauses it with two, which helps in loud rooms where speech recognition struggles. The buttons and keyboard always work too.

What happens if I close the page?

Recent timer sessions and preferences are stored in this browser when storage is available. Recovery uses your device’s clock. Private browsing, cleared storage and device sleep can affect recovery. Keep the page open and test audio before relying on alerts.

Also try: talking countdown timer — hear how much time is left without looking; voice activated stopwatch — count up and capture laps by voice; fullscreen countdown timer — a large display with presets and an alarm.

Reset this session?

This clears the current countdown and returns the timer to its set duration.
