What can I say?
Enable voice, allow your microphone, then wait for “Listening”. Say one command at a time in English. Single-word commands act as soon as they are recognised; choose your accent if commands are misheard.
- “Start” / “Resume”Start or continue timing
- “Pause” / “Stop”Pause and keep your time
- “Set a timer for five minutes”Sets the duration and starts counting down
- “Add one minute”Extend the countdown
- “Time” / “Time remaining”Hear how much time is left
- “Reset”Then say “Confirm reset” or “Cancel reset”
- 👏 One clap · two clapsStart, resume · Pause — with Clap control on, for noisy rooms

Voice not working?
Use voice in one tab at a time. Close or reload other stopwatch or voice-enabled pages first; an older page may keep listening in the background.
Check Microphone permission in your browser’s site settings and your device’s microphone settings. If you are using an in-app browser, open this same page directly in Chrome and try again. Recognition also depends on the browser’s speech service and connection. Manual timing always works.
Keep this tab visible while using voice. Your browser provider may process microphone audio. This tool does not save recordings or transcripts; the last phrase is shown only on this page.

A LITTLE LESS SCREEN TIME
Let your timer do the talking.
Hear progress without watching the clock. Choose an announcement interval and preview the voice before you start.
Speech output does not need microphone access. Keep this page open; a locked phone or sleeping browser may prevent alerts.
Sound & spoken updates
Share or embed this timer
Free to use anywherePaste the link into a message, a lesson plan or a Notion page, or the embed code into any site that accepts HTML (WordPress, Google Sites, Canvas, Moodle). Embedded timers show a small VoiceStopwatch credit. Voice control inside an embed needs the host page to allow the microphone.
MAKE IT YOURS
Listen to your progress.
Set your countdown, open Sound & spoken updates, choose an announcement interval and test the voice. Start when you are ready.
A talking timer can help with rehearsal, stretching and screen-free breaks. Choose occasional remaining-time announcements rather than continuous speech, and turn off the final countdown for a quieter finish.
Questions about talking countdown timer
Does a talking timer need a microphone?
No. Speaking the remaining time uses your device’s available speech voices. Microphone access is needed only if you separately enable voice commands.
Will announcements work on a locked phone?
They are not guaranteed. Browsers can suspend audio or timing callbacks when locked or asleep. Keep this page visible and test audio first.
What happens if I close the page?
Recent timer sessions and preferences are stored in this browser when storage is available. Recovery uses your device’s clock. Private browsing, cleared storage and device sleep can affect recovery. Keep the page open and test audio before relying on alerts.
